CHI109: Chiropractic Skills and Principles I

This unit introduces students to the history of the Learned Professions and the chiropractic profession within the context of the 19th century health care system. The unit examines Chiropractic/Medical relations and factors contributing the turbulent nature thereof. It also examines various types of doctor/patient relationships including: doctor centred care and patient centred care. Practical sessions develop the students' psychomotor skills in palpation by exploring: surface anatomy and joint palpation. Basic health, physical examination and fitness assessments are introduced.
