BUS216: Technology and the Law

This unit is intended for workers concerned with the creation or exploitation of new technology and resulting products or services. Topics: a consideration of the nature of technology and forms of legal protection, international treaties protecting intellectual property, technology transfer for different forms of intellectual property, patents and the underlying jurisprudence and economics, law and the Internet; digital signatures, standard encryption, data protection and privacy, copyright and the Internet, patents for computers, trademarks and the Internet.
