BMS368: Advances in Medical Science
This unit examines the aetiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of a select group of major human disorders which may be inherited, infectious, reproductive or malignant in nature. These include influenza, arthritis, malaria, infertility, cancer and leukaemia. Emphasis will be placed on sophisticated new technologies being used in medical research and how these are beginning to have an impact on our understanding and control of various human diseases. The unit combines various disciplines including molecular biology, immunology, microbiology and pharmacology.
