BIO536: Forensic Psychology and Psychiatry (Not available in 2010)

Covers two major areas related to the psychology of legal practice. The first part provides an appreciation of the complex psychological processes which operate within the criminal justice system. Topics: interviewing witnesses, eyewitness testimony, interrogation, jury and judicial decision making and advocacy. The second component provides an understanding of criminal conduct. Topics: psychopathy, sex offending, violent offending and risk prediction. The unit has an applied focus, critically evaluating psychological research findings in terms of its implications for legal practice.

Prerequisites	Completion of, or concurrent enrolment in, BIO534 Fundamentals of Forensic Science AND Enrolment in either the Postgraduate Certificate in Forensic Science (Courtroom Practice) or the Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Science (Courtroom Practice).
