AIS174: Contemporary Indigenous Cultural Expression

Since colonisation over 200 years ago, the modes through which Australian Indigenous peoples have expressed their relationships to self, community and the land have changed. What has remained constant is the resilience Indigenous peoples have continued to display in the stories they tell of their changing cultural landscapes. This unit explores the centrality to the well-being of Indigenous cultures of a range of forms of cultural expression, including: song, dance, theatre, visual arts, film, television, multi-media, and literature.
