How to record using Lectopia
The Lectopia system is easy to use and requires no changes from normal recording of a lecture.
When using screen capture the optimum resolution for a laptop is 1024 x
768 @ 70 Hz.
All the microphones in lecture theatres are controlled via the AMX panel. Select the 'mic' screen
and then turn the 'mic' you are using on and volume up.
There is one exception and that is VCSLTC2.8 which still has a 'dial' knob that needs to be turned
up for the neck mic to work. There is a mark on this to let users know the best level for optimum lectopia
recordings.
In Tute rooms that are lectopia compatible there is a toggle switch located where the neck mic plugs
into the AV rack or wall. This needs to be 'flicked' to the 'on' position.
The steps in the process of recording lectures are shown below:

If you want to lecture in a non-wired venue, AVS can provide a portable recorder. You will be given
assistance with the portable recorder the first time you collect a recorder. Details of the portable
recorder booking will be included in the confirmation email sent from BiL.
How to listen to Lectopia recordings
Demonstration
Lectopia can be accessed as shown below.

Click on the Lectopia Staff Tool link to open the Recording List. Select the recording by date. Select
the appropriate media format from the drop down menu. Click open.
When the play window appears, first read the copyright notice then click 'continue' and use the controls.
If you want to listen to a later part of the lecture or go back to an earlier part, you can use the
slider. You will need to allow Lectopia a little time to move to the part you need.
If your lecture has PowerPoint slides, you will need to use the arrows and links to move between slides
because the presentation is not automatically synchronised.
Student access to recordings
If you have an online unit, you can add a link to Lectopia on the home page. You can link to all recordings
for a unit or a single recording.
A link to Lectopia recordings is added to students' MyUnits page.
You will need to advise students how they can access the Lectopia recordings for your unit and provide
advice on how to use the recordings.
Lectopia Staff Tool
The Staff Tool lists your units with Lectopia recordings, allows you to access the list of recorded
lectures for each unit and lets you provide additional information for students, such as a title, an
outline or a PowerPoint file.
Unit Coordinators and tutors use their Murdoch username and password to access the Lectopia Staff
Tool.
To access it, go to: https://lectures.murdoch.edu.au/lectopia/staff/
