Lectopia at Murdoch

If you are in a venue that is wired, all you need to do is to use the microphone.

Recording will begin automatically at the start time you nominated for screen capture venues. However, no voice can be recorded until you turn on the microphone. Recording will end automatically 10 minutes before the end of the session. For example Lectopia starts at 11.30 and ends at 12.20 for a 1 hour session or starts at 10.30 and ends at 12.20 for a 2 hour session.

In audio only venues which are waiting for an audio signal a recording will be triggered by an external audio source such as turning on a computer, playing music or playing a DVD.

You may not want to record everything that happens at the start of the session. For example there may be some informal exchanges which do not form part of the lecture and are not appropriate for recording. There will be no 'topping and tailing' (ie editing the start and finish) of recordings other than what you can provide by using the microphone.

Microphones

Neck microphones need to be worn in all recordable venues. There are two different types of adjustable cords on neck mics.

  • a sliding mechanism that is placed over the head
  • a detachable cord - one end is detached from the microphone, placed around the neck and reattached to the mic.

Both microphones need to be adjusted to sit on the upper chest.

Radio Microphones

Radio mics are available for most of the major lecture theatres.

Below is a list of Lecture Theatres that support radio mic and the location the mics can be collected from. Radio mics need to be picked up on the way to your lecture and returned immediately after.

Radio Mics are controlled via the AMX panel in each venue. They need to be turned on, on the base unit and on the AMX panel and volume level adjusted so the lecturer is clearly heard through the PA system.

Portable Recorders

If you are using a portable recorder, a member of Audio Visual Services will demonstrate the unit when you collect it. Booking details will be on your BiL confirmation email.
