Bachelor of Criminology
Examine crime from a range of perspectives including law, sociology and psychology, and learn how to reduce crime and help both victims and offenders involved in the criminal justice system.
In our new Bachelor of Criminology, you’ll learn to challenge common perceptions of crime with insights into why people commit offences, how to reduce or prevent crime, and how to help both victims and offenders involved in the criminal justice system. You can major in Crime Science, Criminal Behaviour or Legal Studies and learn how to reduce crime and help both victims and offenders involved in the criminal justice system.
Our Crime Science course is the first of its kind offered in Australia and one of the first in the world. In this course, you’ll learn about the immediate causes of burgeoning crime rates and the why, where, when, by whom, and how a particular offence was committed.
In our Criminal Behaviour course, you’ll develop a broad understanding of crime and the causes, intervention and prevention of criminal behaviour from a social, psychological, biological and legal perspective.
In our Legal Studies course, you will explore the legal system and how it shapes our society. You’ll broaden your understanding of the role and operation of law, the structure of the Australian legal system and case law and legislation and the interaction of law with other disciplines and social groupings.
