What is an ATAR?

Your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) represents your rank amongst all Year 12s in Western Australia.

Here’s how your ATAR works:

  • The total of your best four scaled scores from your WACE exams is calculated. This number is known as your Tertiary Entrance Aggregrate (TEA).
  • Your TEA is then ranked against all other Year 12s in WA. This is your ATAR.
  • Every course has a minimum ATAR to qualify and apply.
  • ATARs are equivalent from every state except Queensland, so an ATAR of 75 in New South Wales will still be 75 in Western Australia.

If your school is part of Murdoch’s ATAR RISE program then your ATAR could be boosted by as much as ten points.

Your ATAR is just one pathway to study at uni

If your ATAR doesn't meet the requirements for a course you want to study, check out the alternative pathways to get into Murdoch.
