Course Description

In our Marine Biology major, you will develop a detailed understanding of the biota and ecological processes of marine environments. You’ll study the diversity of marine life, as well as the interactions between species and between the biota and the physical environment, with a strong emphasis on fundamental biological principles and how these underpin successful marine management.

Specialised units cover fish, wildlife populations and ecology, and you will have extensive opportunities for field work throughout the course.

Expand your expertise and career prospects by combining this course with another one. You can complete a double major in the same amount of time as a single course. You could combine the Marine Science major with Environmental Science, Conservation and Wildlife Biology, Environmental Management and Sustainability, Marine Science, and Genetics and Molecular Biology.

When you graduate from our Marine Biology course you will be able to find jobs in areas such as marine policy and planning in government, marine and coastal environmental groups and consultancies, industry sectors such as aquaculture, fisheries and marine-based tourism and University and Government-funded marine research institutions.
