Course Description

In this brand new course, you will explore oceanography, the diversity of marine life, interactions between species and the aquatic environment. Marine Biology focuses on the biological foundations of the ocean and how these principles underpin successful marine management.

You will couple this strong theoretical base with extensive amounts of field work, laboratory and research training, problem-solving, policy and management. As part of your studies, you will gain valuable experience in marine, coastal and estuarine environments through field camps and field trips along the coast of WA. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in industry and community projects.

To expand your expertise and career prospects even further, you can combine this course with another major, including Environmental Science, Conservation and Wildlife Biology, Environmental Management and Sustainability, Marine Science, Biological Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics.

When you graduate, you could be qualified to work in marine environmental management, fisheries, aquaculture, tourism and recreation, marine biotechnology, marine biodiversity conservation, marine biology and ecology.
