Course Description

In this course, you’ll learn to tell stories with sound – from the spoken word and podcasting to surround sound cinema or in an interactive immersive environment. You’ll explore contemporary sound design and production in areas such as popular music, sound for film and games, studio recording, music technology and live sound.

You’ll study core units in audio production and music technology and can choose electives such as ‘Radio Presenting and Producing’, ‘Introduction to the Screen’, ‘Popular Music’ and ‘Soundtrack.’ You’ll get hands-on experience in our surround sound editing suites, audio control rooms and sound stage and learn from industry experts. Murdoch University is a member of the Australian Screen Production Education and Research Association.

To expand your knowledge, skills and career prospects even further, you can combine Sound with other majors including Radio, Games Art and Design, Screen Production or Theatre and Drama.

When you graduate, you’ll be ready for a range of exciting careers in music recording, editing, mixing and remixing, film and television sound recording, sound editing, mixing and design, sound design for interactive media and theatre, and industrial sound design.
