Course Description

In our Global Media and Communication course, you’ll develop the skills and expertise for work in the contemporary communication, media and cultural industries, which are characterised by rapid change, digitalisation and technological innovation.

You’ll learn to analyse and produce both traditional and new media texts, and to understand communication and cultural processes in the emerging creative industries. You will also engage in practical training to build real-world skills and knowledge.

As the units in this major cover a wide range of critical communication issues, cultural theory and media concepts, you’ll be well placed to embark on a research career in the industry or enrol for further studies at Honours and/or graduate level.

When you graduate you will have the research, communication and professional skills necessary for a career as a communication specialist working as information, media and communications officers and managers, researchers and consultants in policy and strategy roles, for large corporations, government, corporations, non-profit organisations, as well as creative industries, academia and teaching.
