Given the multidisciplinary basis of education, coupled with the multiplicity of issues arising in the field, research in the Group that has ‘Transforming Learning Opportunities’ as its focus can be subdivided into a number of themes, including:

1. Motivation and learning

2. Critical pedagogy

3. Literacy, indigenous education and ICTs

4. Technology enhanced learning

5. Policy, evaluation and leadership

These themes comprise of a team of collegial researchers headed by strong research leaders who, apart from being active researchers, support more junior members of staff to empower them in their endeavors to contribute to basic and applied, industry funded, research.
