Academic Organisational Unit Reviews
Background
Academic Organisational Unit Reviews (School Reviews) are an integral part
of the University’s quality management system
and are conducted on a five-yearly cycle.
The Schedule of Future Academic Organisational Unit
Reviews is approved by Academic
Council.
Reviews are conducted in accordance with policy
approved by Academic Council.
Reviews essentially comprise the following elements:
- Preparation of self-review documentation by the AOU under review,
including development of an Action Plan for self-identified opportunities
for improvement..
- Visit by Review Panel
- Review Panel prepares report including recommendations for improvement
- AOU, Division and, where relevant, Research
and Development Board, consider Review Panel recommendations.
- Academic Council
adopts Review Panel recommendations as modified by the President of Academic
Council and receives progress report on implementation of Action Plan for
self-identified opportunities for improvement.
- Combined Implementation Plan developed, incorporating Panel
recommendations into Action Plan for self-identified opportunities for
improvement.
- Implementation of Combined Implementation Plan monitored by Academic
Quality Audit Committee.
- Progress reports submitted to Academic
Council.
