Academic Quality Audit Committee (AQAC)Induction for New MembersBackgroundThe Academic Quality Audit Committee (AQAC) is a standing committee of Academic Council established, following consideration of recommendations in the Murdoch University Academic Audit Report, April 2001 (a report on Murdoch's first whole-of-institution audit), to monitor academic quality assurance within the University. Terms of ReferenceAQAC's terms of reference are approved by Academic Council. One of AQAC's key responsibilities is to monitor progress implementing AUQA recommendations and affirmations. Progress is sought as at 30 March and 30 November each year. New members are encouraged to read the latest updates published on the web. MembershipAQAC is chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic). The committee's membership is approved by Academic Council. Meeting DatesMeetings are scheduled to allow time for any recommendations to be forwarded to Academic Council in a timely manner. The meeting dates and agenda deadlines for 2009 are:
Meeting ProceduresAQAC meets in accordance with the Standing Orders for Academic Council and Subordinate Bodies. Agendas and MinutesAgendas and minutes are prepared by the Manager, Academic Reviews in her capacity as Secretary to AQAC. Agendas and minutes are published on the quality web site and are MAIS protected. Quality Management at MurdochGeneral information on quality management at Murdoch is published on the Quality web site. Confidentiality RequirementsDuring university-wide reviews, much of the information presented to the committee for consideration is confidential. Members are advised when they should not circulate information to other staff or students and any other requirements such as shredding. Review of PerformanceIn accordance with the policy Review of Academic Council and its Subordinate Bodies, AQAC is required to undergo a self-review every three years.
