General Information:Murdoch University has a Central Monitoring and Control System to monitor and control the maximum demand of electricity consumed by the University. The electricity consumption is monitored continuously and an alarm is activated when the set maximum demand parameter is reached. It allows the system operator to monitor demand. If the demand for electricity reaches a set limit the operator may from time to time request the University community to reduce the use of equipment to help keep consumption below our contract limit. In addition to the above the Central Monitoring and Control System is used for monitoring designated critical research areas, control car park lighting and Central Teaching space air conditioning. Water and Gas supply is monitored on a regular basis, usage is recorded and compared with previous records to determine any variation in usage. Any large variation will be notified to the appropriate section/division to check systems for any unnecessary losses. The information collated is also used to forecast future utility requirements, infrastructure requirements for the University, and when negotiating new utility supply agreements. Sewage and discharge rates are based on a percentage of water consumption recorded. These statutory charges are monitored against budget estimates. Utility Services Staff:Manager, Campus Maintenance Please note that air conditioning faults and complaints should be reported to the Facilities Management Help Desk.
