Facilities Management Helpdesk

How to Report Faults or Request Services

To report a fault or request a service contact the Facilities Management Helpdesk on (08) 9360 2262 between the hours of 7.30am to 5.00pm or alternatively complete the online FM Helpdesk Request Form or email the staff at the Helpdesk at Fm.helpdesk@murdoch.edu.au

Technical Services provides a 24-hour building emergency service, if you have identified a major fault please contact Security on 6222 between the hours of 5.00pm and 7.30am.

Information required to log a job request or fault with the FM Helpdesk

When telephoning or emailing a request please have the following information ready to log the job request or alternatively you can fill out the online form FM Helpdesk Request Form;


Other information that may be required;

  • When reporting an Air-conditioning fault please advise whether it is ducted or a room air conditioner attached to the wall.
  • All logistical requests must be booked 7 days in advance to guarantee completion at time specified.
  • To enable logistics to assist when moving furniture please ensure all cabinets, desk and cupboards are emptied and cleared prior to relocation.

Typical Services co-ordinated through the FM Helpdesk

  • Maintenance and repair of building structure, services and fittings
  • Grounds faults
  • 24 hour building emergency services
  • Evaluation of buildings and fittings and services
  • Technical Service advise to campus community
  • Health and Safety responsibility for Technical Services
  • Cleaning Requests
  • Pest Control
  • Unlocking of doors between 7.30am – 3.45pm
  • Relocation of Furniture Items
  • Relocation of equipment items eg. Computer and printers etc
  • Collection and Disposal of broken or damaged furniture
  • Delivery of Furniture as requested by the Client Services Co-ordinator
  • Set-up for Enrolments and exams
  • Set-up for specific University Function eg. Graduation Ceremonies
  • Set-up Central Teaching Tutorial Rooms and Lecture Theatres
  • Collection of Confidential Shredding Bins
  • Isolate/ Reset Fire Alarms

FM Helpdesk Priority Listing & Description

Priority 1 These jobs need to be attended to within 24 hours

  • Any job that is a danger or health and safety issue
  • Flickering Fluoros
  • Reset Power Outlets
  • Burst Water Pipes or Toilet Overflowing
  • Fire Isolations and Resets

Priority 2 These jobs need to be completed within 7 days/ or specific date

  • General Maintenance
  • Exam Set-ups and Special Events
  • All blown lights around campus
  • Air-conditioning faults
  • All logistical requests

Priority 3 These jobs need to be completed within 30 days

  • Repairs of window balances
  • Repair of desks
  • Oiling of Chairs
  • Door hinge repairs

Technical Services also provides other services to the University Community as a charge, these are called Customer Funded Jobs and are prioritised as a Priority 3. The Technical Services Staff charge out their labour at $35.00 per hour (a minimum charge of half an hour, plus materials incurred, please provide an account code for Customer Funded Jobs).

Typical Customer Funded Job Requests

  • Hire of power cords (extension cords)
  • Repair of Divisional Equipment, i.e. office furniture
  • Repair of Kitchen Equipment, i.e. Fridges
  • Installation of Whiteboards, pictures, shelving etc
  • Electrical Services
  • Extra Services provided during Special Events, i.e. Cleaning, Logistical Services, Electrical Services, Building Services and Grounds Services.A request for a Special Event docket must be provided with an Account Code and at least 10 days advance notice.


The following items are hired out or charged to the University Community

Hire of power boards, extension cords $5.00 per board or cord

  • Pin boards $10.00 per day
  • Small tables $5.00 per day
  • Trestle tables $10.00 per day
  • Whiteboards $10.00 per day
  • Electronic Whiteboards $40.00 per day
  • Boxes $1.60 each
  • Chairs No charge
  • VC Lectern No charge
  • Lectern No charge
  • Shredding Bins (120 litre) $20.00 *
  • Recycling Bins (120 litre) $20.00 *
  • Green Rubbish Bins (240 litre) $20.00 each *
  • Supply of Heaters $27.00 each

* All bins will be delivered on the Friday of every pay week and collected on the Wednesday of the following week - 8 days.
