ROCKINGHAM CAMPUS SHUTTLE BUS USAGE POLICY
The following outlines the general policy for travel on the commuter buses between
Murdoch South Street and Rockingham campuses:
- This service is for use by Murdoch University students and staff exclusively
and utilised for University related business only.
- Students will take precedence for travel. Staff to make alternative arrangements
with Office of Commercial Services if required. The bus commuting between
both campuses contains 45 seats, which has an adequate capacity to transport
current and foreseeable student numbers.
- A valid pre-purchased ticket (value $1.00) or booklet of ten (10) tickets
can only be purchased from the Student Services Centres at Rockingham and South Street campuses.
- Murdoch University identification is to be shown to the bus driver by all
commuters on entering the bus.
- All commuters must hand over to the bus driver a valid pre-purchased ticket
on entering the bus.
- Any commuter who does not hand over a valid pre-purchased ticket will be
refused travel by the bus driver.
- Commuters will observe the following guidelines when travelling on the bus:
- Commuters will not travel sitting on the floor or standing in the aisle
of the bus. If all seats are occupied contact Office of Commercial Services
for alternative arrangements;
- Commuters will conduct themselves in a respectable and responsible
manner at all times ensuring that their behaviour does not endanger the
comfort and safety of their fellow passengers or the bus driver;
- Commuters will not distract the bus driver while the bus in motion.
All queries and requests are to be directed to the bus driver prior to
travel or at the end of the journey;
- The bus driver will not make any unscheduled stops in the course of
travel. Commuters who have special requirements are to direct their enquiries
to the Office of Commercial Services prior to travelling;
- Commuters with large bags or parcels will be asked to store such articles
in the appropriate luggage locker on the bus. Commuters will not be allowed
to travel while holding such articles or by placing them on any empty
seat on the bus.
- Commuters who breach these guidelines or who in the opinion of the bus driver
have not acted in a responsible or respectable manner may be refused travel
in the future.
Please note:
The Office of Commercial Services manages the shuttle bus service. The policy
and arrangements with regard to this service will be regularly monitored and
reviewed.
