Purpose: The purpose of the document is to provide clear direction to the University community on the deployment of a release or upcoming release of a significant software product, or product set. 
 
Product: Microsoft Office 2007 product suite, also known as "Office 12" (for Windows Workstations only).
 
Release Date: Released.
 
Position: The release of Office 2007 sees the most extensive changes to the product set for some time.  The University has now conducted testing of the product and it available for limited release.  An extensive training programme is being assembled at present, including both on-line (self-training) and instructor led courses.  For further information, see the IT Training Resource Centre at http://www.its.murdoch.edu.au/training/

Deployment will be conducted as follows:

  • Common Computer Laboratories.  This product will be installed into all common computer laboratories for the start of Semester 1, 2008.  GCL1 will be deployed late in October 2007 as a pilot site.
  • All others.  Deployment to all other PC’s will be by request only and be available from 1st November, 2007; there will not be an automatic installation of this product unless requested for a group of workstations.  Please contact the IT Service Desk at itservicedesk@murdoch.edu.au for information on this deployment.

You are requested NOT to download nor install this product from the Internet onto a Murdoch owned workstation that is connected to the network.  If you have already downloaded and installed the product, then please contact the IT Service Desk for advice on how to proceed.  Any issues as a result of this installation may require your workstation to be re-imaged.
