When you enrolled, you may have filled in a contact email address. This would have been set as your initial "preferred" contact email address, and so all email received by your student account is being forwarded on to that preferred account. So, while it looks like you are not receiving any email (as your student email inbox is empty), that is because it is all being redirected to your preferred email address.

To disable this, you need to log in to MyInfo. Click on the "E-mail address" link, type in your student email address (which is 12345678@student.murdoch.edu.au, where 12345678 is your student number), and then click on "Submit". Within 15 minutes, the redirect will be turned off.
