General Computing Labs
Murdoch University provides several general purpose computer laboratories which are available to all students. These laboratories all run the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, provide Microsoft Office 2007 and have access to the internet.
All students are allocated 30mb of storage space on a networked server called MyDisk which they can use to save their own documents and files. Students disk storage on MyDisk can be accessed from most labs on campus, including the general computing labs, and will appear as another drive in 'My Computer' or 'Windows Explorer'. For a student with student number 12345678 the disk space would appear as; 12345678 on 'mydisk\home' (H:)
Most labs will automatically connect to MyDisk, while some may require you to map to the drive manually. If in doubt speak to the iT Service Desk on 9360 2000. Some divisions may supply their students with additional disk space.
Conditions of Use
The equipment in all the computing laboratories has been provided to support the educational needs of all undergraduate students at Murdoch. In support of these aims the following rules apply and failure to conform may result in suspension from use of the student network facilities for a specified period.
- No food or drink to be consumed in the laboratories.
- No excessive noise.
- Game-playing is not allowed in student network laboratories.
- Any PC left unattended will be deemed available for use by another student, who will have the authority to close/save files and remove any disks.
- You are required to comply with any instruction by a University staff member.
- These facilities are for the use of Murdoch University staff and students only, and you can be requested by Murdoch University security to produce a Murdoch University student card for identification.

Below is a listing of rooms designated as Computing Labs and an indication of the number of computers they contain. With the exception of General Computing Labs (GCL), Computing Labs are booked and may not be available for general use. See the Campus Map for locations of Computing Labs.
