Purpose: The purpose of this document is to provide clear direction to the University community on the minimum supported level of Operating System for Murdoch’s Macintosh fleet.
Product: Apple Macintosh OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and previous versions of the Apple Macintosh Operating System.
Position: Apple Macintosh OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard) is the minimum recommended level of Macintosh operating system in use. This will ensure that the same level of support is provided to all Macintosh users. We will be encouraging the upgrading of as many Murdoch owned Apple Macintosh computers to OS X version 10.5.7 (Leopard) (that have not already been upgraded to this version) as possible. Where machines are found that cannot be upgraded to this version (due to their age or capacity), recommendations will be made for new machines to be purchased or advice given that such machines which are not upgradeable may not be fully supportable.
