Purpose:

The purpose of the document is to provide clear direction to the University community on the release or upcoming release of a significant software product, or product set.   

 

Product: Microsoft Windows Vista operating system (all versions)

 

Expected Release Date: Released


Position:
The University does not intend to move to this version, but will investigate migration to the next version of Windows, named “Windows 7”.

 

You are requested NOT to download nor install this product onto a Murdoch owned workstation that is connected to the network.  If you have already downloaded and installed the product, then please contact the IT Service Desk for advice on how to proceed.  Any issues as a result of this installation may require your workstation to be re-imaged.

 

Please note that all computers purchased or leased by Murdoch with Windows Vista pre-installed will be re-imaged with Windows XP.
