This subset of the Facilities & Services Index includes applications systems and services, some of which are hosted externally, that require user authentication. The University uses a number of methods to authenticate users. Login to most systems and services is offered via a Secure Web Server to ensure that a password is encrypted when passed from a Web browser to a Web Server.

Authentication requires a user to login using a valid username and password. The most commonly used login is Murdoch Username (ie. Staff Number, Student Number, or Person Number) and Murdoch Password .

MAIS Access Restriction

MAIS Login Screen

If access to the system or service you select from the following list is restricted via the Murdoch Authentication & Identification System (MAIS), and you enter your Murdoch Username and Murdoch Password at a MAIS login screen, you may find the MAIS Server (https://mais.murdoch.edu.au) returns an error message, eg. "Access not permitted (not a member of a valid group)", or, "MAIS Authority Type Code Denied". If you think you should be authorised to access the system or service, then you need to contact the system custodian. To assist in identifying a custodian, contact the IT Service Desk .

Refer to the MAIS Help Topics to identify Systems and Services Using the MAIS Login Screen for Authentication and for information on MAIS Login Persistence . Login persistence is available:

• between those systems and services that use the MAIS login screen (eg. between the Portal, MyMurdoch, and the LMS Enrolment Self Service)

There are some systems that do authenticate users against the MAIS database, but provide their own login screen (eg. MyInfo System). If you have already accessed a restricted system or service using the MAIS Login screen and you then select a link to a system that uses its own login screen, you will be prompted to login again.

MAIS Logout

At any time, a MAIS login session may be ended by connecting to the MAIS Server to log out - https://mais.murdoch.edu.au/logout.

Active Directory Access Restriction

Access to some of the following systems is restricted by the Web Server interacting with the University's Microsoft Active Directory. The login screen displayed will not be the MAIS login screen.

If you are on campus and have already logged into your desktop computer using your Murdoch Username and Password you may not be prompted to login again, particularly if your Web browser is Internet Explorer. However, if you are at home using an ISP, or using a computer in your workplace, then you will be prompted at a login screen to authenticate using a Murdoch Username and Murdoch Password. In some cases, you may be required to enter the domain as part of your Murdoch Username, for example: AD\<Your Murdoch Username>
