Internet Traffic & Modem Connection Charges

If you are a Murdoch University Network user, be aware that when you select hypertext links that connect you to information services offered at other sites, files retrieved by your Web browser will result in Internet traffic charges to the University.

With the Online Traffic Accounting System [ restricted ] , charges are devolved to the organisational areas.

Students

In the case of students, Internet access for the purposes of sending and receiving email, and for accessing Web sites within PARNet (ie. WA public universities) is available free of charge.

Students who use the University Network (rather than an ISP), and who wish to purchase Internet access and modem connection time to access sites beyond Western Australia, may do so via the Internet Traffic and Modem Time Quota System . At the beginning of Semester, students should find that their Division or School has applied a level of credit for their use via the Quota system. This credit is made available on a weekly basis. For more information, refer to Student Internet Quota .

Staff

In the case of staff, the Modem Dialup Phone Details provide information on charges applied to individual staff. Staff can also use the Online Traffic Accounting System [ restricted ] information to view what charges have accrued. Staff need to enter the IP address or the hostname of their computer.
