Personal Programs At Masters By Coursework Level

A Personal Program at Masters by Coursework level must meet the following criteria:

The availability of the Personal Programs at Master by Coursework level is subject to the availability of an appropriate supervisor and resources. The University recognises the workload implications of the Master of Arts by Personal Program (MAPP) and academic staff may decline to supervise a MAPP.

Students are responsible for finding a full-time or fractional full-time Murdoch academic staff member with experience in the area of the proposed MAPP and who is willing to act as supervisor.

The supervisor acts as Program Chair and is responsible for overall academic guidance and for recommending completion of the award. This person MUST be a full-time or fractional full-time academic staff member of Murdoch University (at Lecturer Level A or above).

The Head of School has final approval on the application;

  1. The content should be significantly different from any existing course, and from any specialisation within an existing course;

  2. Unit levels must be consistent with requirements for a masters as outlined in the Postgraduate Coursework Regulations;

  3. It must include at least 12 points at 600 level which, at the time of application, have not already been completed by the student;

  4. The title of the course must comply with the Award Nomenclature and Testamurs policy.
