Section 3.1.1.3 Hosting Foreign Content

Section 3.1.1.3.7 Professional Organisations, Associations, Conferences (Foreign Content, Category W)

Before a professional organisation, association or conference may make use of a MurdochNet Server or an Affiliated Web Server to host or provide access to Content, a member of staff or a student who is formally associated with the professional body or conference shall have applied to their respective Head of Division for permission to host such Content on a computer on the Murdoch University Network. There may be other cases where the University agrees to host such Content when it is determined that providing a service as an Internet Content Host (ICH), and the type of material to be hosted, supports the University’s mission. Where such Content is to be hosted, the organisation, association, or conference organisers, shall enter into a formal agreement with the University. Such agreements shall use the University’s Internet Content Hosting Service Deed and require the signature of the Vice Chancellor (or official nominee), or other member of Senior Executive.

Should the Murdoch University Guild of Students, or a club or society affiliated with the Guild of Students, or any other club or society that is recognised as being associated with Murdoch University, wish to make use of a MurdochNet Server or an Affiliated Web Server to host or provide access to Content for a conference organised by the Guild, club, or society, then a student who is formally associated with the conference shall have applied to the appropriate Head of Division for permission to host such Content on a computer on the Murdoch University Network. Where it is agreed that such Content may be hosted, the Guild, club or society that is associated with the conference, shall enter into a formal agreement with the University. Such agreements shall use the University’s Internet Content Hosting Service Deed and require the signature of the Vice Chancellor (or official nominee), or other member of the Senior Executive.

Should such Foreign Content be hosted on or accessed by an Affiliated Web Server, rather than a MurdochNet Server, then authorisation to run an Affiliated Web Server with an alternate domain name, shall have previously been obtained from the respective Head of Division. (For further detail, refer to Section 4.3 Alternate Domain Names.)
