Section 3 CODE OF CONDUCT

Section 3.1 Servers

Section 3.1.1 Appropriate Use of Servers

Section 3.1.1.2 Hosting Associated Content

Section 3.1.1.2.2 Hosting Associated Content Category M on MurdochNet Servers and Affiliated Web Servers

Before an organisation with a recognised association with Murdoch University, or a state or national consortium of which the University is a member, or a project sponsored by the University, may make use of a MurdochNet Server or an Affiliated Web Server run on a computer on the Murdoch University Network, to host or provide access to Content, the organisation, consortium, or project shall enter into a formal agreement with the University and complete an Internet Content Hosting Service Deed.

Should such Associated Content be hosted on or accessed by an Affiliated Web Server, rather than a MurdochNet Server, then authorisation to run an Affiliated Web Server on a computer on the Murdoch University Network using an alternate domain name, shall have previously been obtained from the respective Head of Division as part of the Server registration process. (For further detail, refer to Section 4.3 Alternate Domain Names.)

Any organisation with a recognised association with Murdoch University that is planning to use an external ICH service to host University Content, shall refer to the Guidelines for Hosting MurdochNet Content on Computers Not on the Murdoch University Network included in Schedule 3 Guidelines Schedule 3 Guidelines  of this Policy.

Where a Server that is not on the Murdoch University Network is to be used to host or provide access to Associated Content, Category M, the associated organisation wishing to use the Server, shall apply to register it as a MurdochNet Server or Affiliated Web Server. To ensure that the potential service level and legal risks associated with using an external ICH service are addressed, authorisation shall be obtained from a Head of Division as part of the Server registration process.
