Section 3.1 Servers

Section 3.1.2 Content Publishing Authorisation

Only those persons authorised to do so shall publish Content that is to be hosted on or accessed by MurdochNet Servers and Affiliated Web Servers. For computers that run MurdochNet Servers and Affiliated Web Servers, an authorisation process shall be in place to ensure only authorised publishing of Content hosted on those computers. For computers that host databases accessed by MurdochNet Servers and Affiliated Web Servers, an authorisation process shall be in place to ensure only authorised access to Content held in those databases.

For University Content and Associated Content Categories M and N, the authorisation process shall be based on a Content Custodian authorising a Content Provider to publish Content on their behalf. A record of the authorisation process shall be maintained. The record shall be transparent and auditable.

For Associated Content, Categories O and P, the authorisation process should be based on a Head of an organisation unit or resource area authorising publication of Content by or for an individual. For Foreign Content, the authorisation process should be appropriate for the type of material, and where practical, be based on a Content Custodian authorising a Content Provider to publish Content on their behalf.

Roles with responsibility for ensuring only authorised persons access computers used to run MurdochNet Servers and Affiliated Web Servers are defined in Section 4.9 Responsibility for Web Servers

Sample forms and associated guidelines that may be used to implement an authorisation process are included in Schedule 1 Forms of this Policy.
