Section 5.7.5.4 Content Provider

A Content Provider means an individual authorised by a Content Custodian to prepare, produce, maintain and/or publish Content for MurdochNet.

In the absence of a Content Custodian, a Content Provider may be authorised by a Web Liaison Officer, or by the appropriate organisation unit or resource area manager, to prepare, produce, maintain and publish University Content or Associated Content. Authorisation should comply with Section 3.1.2 Content Publishing Authorisation.

The MurdochNet Policy can only define constraints on Content Providers responsible for preparing or maintaining material that is to be hosted on a MurdochNet Server or on an Affiliated Web Server.

A Content Providershall be responsible for:

  1. ensuring that any Content they prepare, produce, maintain and publish
  2. a. has been authorised by a Content Custodian or, in their absence, by a Web Liaison Officer

    b. has been assigned an appropriate access level prior to preparation, either by a Web Liaison Officer or a Content Custodian

    c. is accessible via the access level assigned by a Web Liaison Officer or Content Custodian

    d. has an appropriate method of access restriction implemented as requested by a Web Liaison Officer or Content Custodian

    e. is appropriate as defined in Section 3.2.1 Appropriate Content of the MurdochNet Policy

    f. includes appropriate links as defined in Section 3.3.1 Appropriate Links of the MurdochNet Policy

    g. adheres to recommended standards referred to by the MurdochNet Policy

    h. follows the approved guidelines referred to by the MurdochNet Policy

    i. has been prepared using the Murdoch conventions included in the MurdochNet Policy

    j. complies with University policies and legislation (eg. the IT Security Policy, the Intellectual Property Statute, Asessment Policy, Statement on Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action)

    k. complies with the guidelines associated with the MurdochNet Policy

    l. includes information that is current and accurate at the time it was authorised

    m. includes links that are current, accurate and valid at the time the Content is added or updated.

    n. if it is University Content and prepared in HTML (or related) format, includes appropriate metadata including the name of the University as publisher

    o. if it is University Content, includes a link to the University�s Copyright & Disclaimer Notice

    p. if it is University Content, includes a link to the Web Sites PrivacyNotice if it includes interaction with end-users for the purposes of entering data of a personal, confidential, or sensitive nature or includes a financial transaction

    q. if it is Associated Content, is current and accurate

    r. if it is Associated Content, includes a link to the University�s Disclaimer Notice

    s. is only published when authorised by a Content Custodian.

    In addition to University Content or Associated Content, a Content Provider may be responsible for the addition of material that is Foreign Content to a MurdochNet Server or an Affiliated Web Server. Additional responsibilities apply to the management of Foreign Content to ensure compliance with copyright requirements.

    A Content Proivder shall be responsible for:

    1) ensuring that Copyright requirements are met with regard to the display of an official Copyright warning notice

    2) ensuring that the level of access assigned by either a Content Custodian or Web Liaison Officer, is implemented, including access restriction, or that a Web Administrator is asked to implement it

    3) ensuring that copyright material is removed from a computer on the Murdoch University Network, when instructed by a person in the appropriate postion (eg. Director, Office of Information Technolgy Services, Copyright Coordinator).

    A Content Provider shall, when instructed by the Director, Office of Information Technology Services, shall be responsible for:

    1. removing Links from within Content that they maintain, when those Links are:

      a. to Content deemed inappropriate with respect to Section 3.2.3 Inappropriate Content of the MurdochNet Policy

      b. deemed to be unauthorised Links to Internet accessible advertising or sponsorship material with respect to Section 3.3.2.5 Links to Sponsor Sites or Section 3.3.2.6 Links to Advertising Material of the MurdochNet Policy

      c. deemed to be unauthorised Links to Internet accessible services or products for the purposes of revenue generation with respect to the Section 3.3.2.7 Links for the Purposes of Revenue Generation and Discounted Servicesof the MurdochNet Policy
