Section 5.7 Responsibility for Content

Section 5.7.1 Responsibility for University Content

Responsibility for the provision of University Content shall be devolved to organisation units and resource areas (eg. Divisions, Schools and Offices).

Liability for providing false, misleading, or out-of-date information shall, in the first instance, rest with the organisation units and resource areas concerned.

The Office of Information Technology Services shall be responsible for facilitating access to University Content provided by the respective organisation units and resource areas, by means of:

(1) Registered Links in centrally-maintained indexes

(2) and for Content hosted on selected registered MurdochNet Servers, by means of index entries generated by the Campus Search Engine.

Content Custodians and Web Liaison Officers responsible for authorising University Content should be aware of the legal implications of providing false, misleading, or out-of-date information. High risk information areas include:

(1) statements about professional accreditation of courses (these should only appear if there is written confirmation from the professional body that it has accredited the course)

(2) statements that a qualification in an area or course 'will' or 'does' lead to employment in particular occupations

(3) mismatches between advertised content of a course or unit and what is actually taught.
