Section 5.4 Murdoch Conventions for Content Preparation

Section 5.4.6 Sponsorship & Advertising Convention

The Murdoch Sponsorship & Advertising Convention to be practiced in the preparation of Content includes:

  • display of appropriate acknowledgement
  • display of authorisation statements.

This convention shall apply where University Content or Associated Content has included Foreign Content such as sponsorship or advertising material (ie. Content Category T & U), eg. logos.

Acknowledgement & Authorisation Statements

The metadata that accompanies Content shall include acknowledgement and authorisation statements. The metadata shall be displayed in a manner that enables an end-user to confirm that included sponsorship or advertising material has been authorised by the Director, Office of Corporate and Public Relations (or their official nominee).

META Tags Used to Identify Content that Includes Sponsorship or Advertising

The metadata that accompanies Content shall include:

  • The META tags ‘MU.Sponsor’ ‘MU.Sponsor.OrgName’, ‘MU.Sponsor.Authorised’ to identify Content that includes sponsorship material.
  • The META tag ‘MU.Advert’, ‘MU.Advert.Authorised’ to identify Content that includes advertising material.

Document Information Footers

The metadata that accompanies Content that is subject to the requirement to display acknowledgement and authorisation of sponsorship or advertising material, shall include the use of document information footers or metadata popups accessed by a link on a page titled Page Information. The footer or popup display shall include acknowledgement and authorisation statements.
