Section 4 SERVER MANAGEMENT

Section 4.5 Availability of Web Servers

Section 4.5.1 MurdochNet Infrastructure

The Office of Information Technology Services shall be responsible for providing and maintaining what shall be referred to as the MurdochNet infrastructure.

This infrastructure to include:

(a) Secure physical locations (eg. Site A, Science & Computing Building and Site B, Library North Wing).

(b) Computers to run designated Central MurdochNet Servers (as defined in Section 2.2.1 Servers, eg. MurdochNet Host).

(c) Appropriate maintenance, upgrade and replacement planning.

(d) Associated equipment such as backup tape drives, UPS.

(e) The storage of back tapes at a secure location, or at a secure location on another Murdoch campus.

(f) The operation of and support for designated Central MurdochNet Servers.

(g) Software applications, programs, tools and databases associated with those Servers.

(h) Designated staff responsible for the operation and support of those Servers.

Services provided as part of the MurdochNet infrastructure shall include:

(a) Automated monitoring for the availability of registered Servers.

(b) Out of hours monitoring for the availability of nominated key Servers and services.

(c) Statistical reports of Server use for selected registered Servers.

(d) Indexing of selected registered Servers for the Campus Search Engine.
