Section 4.4.5 Use of Computer Hostnames
The use of the name of a computer hostname in lieu of a Web
Server alias removes the flexibility inherent in the use of an alias naming
convention. Swapping aliases between computers allows services to be swapped
between computers with minimal disruption of services to end-users. The facility
to swap aliases between computers in different physical locations may be
integral to the provision of a Disaster Recovery & Service Continuity
Strategy.
As part of the Server registration process, all new Web
Servers shall be required to make use of an assigned alias.
