Section 4.3.4 Authorisation of Affiliated Web Servers Run on Computers Not on the Murdoch University Network
Where
a Web Server that is not on the Murdoch University Network is to be used to
host or provide access to University Content the alternate domain name to be
used in the registration of an Affiliated Web Server shall be either the domain
name of another educational institution or organisation, or a domain name that
reflects the name of the organisation unit or resource area responsible for the
Content.
When authorising an application to register an Affiliated
Web Server that uses a Server run by an external ICH service, a Head of
Division, or the nominated member of the Senior Executive shall be satisfied
that:
- the
use of the proposed Affiliated Web Server shall be consistent with the
University’s mission and the goals of MurdochNet (as defined in Section 2.1)
- the
proposed alternate domain name reflects the name of the applying body
- the
format of the alternate domain name is acceptable
- the
Content Categories to be hosted on the Affiliated Web Server complies with
the MurdochNet Policy
- the
expected life of the site to be hosted on the Affiliated Web Server is
consistent with its stated purpose
In conjunction with authorising the registration of an
Affiliated Web Server to host or provide access to University Content, or
Associated Content Category M, a Head of Division, or the nominated member of
the Senior Executive, shall be satisfied that the organisation unit or resource
area that is to use an external ICH service to host their Content, has entered
into an ICH service agreement, as required by the Guidelines for Hosting MurdochNet Content on Computers Not on the Murdoch University Network,
included in Schedule 3 Guidelines of this Policy.
