Section 4 SERVER MANAGEMENT

Section 4.3 Alternate Domain Names

An alternate domain name may be associated with a computer on the Murdoch University Network. The use of an alternate domain name shall be approved by the Director, Office of Information Technology Services. Approved alternate domain names shall have a corresponding entry in the University’s Domain Name Server (DNS). Approval to use an alternate domain name should be obtained prior to registering a domain name with a recognised external registration service.

The MurdochNet Coordinator shall be responsible for coordinating the procedure for the approval of alternate domain names that are to be included in the University’s Domain Name Server (DNS).

An alternate domain name requires approval prior to being used in the process of registering a Web Server. The association of an approved alternate domain name with a Web Server shall be authorised as part of the Server registration process.
