Section 3.4.7 Links to Inappropriate Content

Any Content hosted on or accessed by a MurdochNet Server or an Affiliated Web Server that includes Links to other Content that could reasonably be considered to be Inappropriate Content, as defined in Section 3.2.3 Inappropriate Content, shall be reported to the person responsible for authorising the Content. Where no statement of authorisation is included with Content, then the Web Liaison Officer (or Web Administrator) for the respective organisation unit or resource area should be contacted.

Should the person authorising the Content, or the Web Liaison Officer (or Web Administrator) fail to take the necessary steps to remove such Links, then the Content that includes Links to other Content that could reasonably be considered Inappropriate Content, should be reported to the Director, Office of Information Technology Services.

Where a copyright owner or agent reports Content hosted on or accessed by a MurdochNet Server, or an Affiliated Web Server, that includes Links to material they believe constitutes an infringement of copyright, or a breach of an agreed license or contract, the Director shall forward the report to the Copyright Coordinator.

The Director, Office of Information Technology Services shall consult with the appropriate University officer(s).

Where the Director, Office of Information Technology Services determines, following advice from the appropriate University officer(s), that the Links reported are Links to Content that should be considered Inappropriate Content, and that steps should be taken by the University to resolve the situation, then the steps taken may include:

(i) an instruction from the Vice Chancellor that the Links in Content be removed

(ii) the modification of Content to remove such Links by a designated University officer (eg. IT Security Manager)

(iii) the removal of Content that contains such Links from a Server by a designated University officer (eg. IT Security Manager)

(i) the blocking, via the University’s DNS (or other mechanisms) of the IP used by the Server that hosts or provides access to the Content that includes the reported Links.

A form for reporting Inappropiate Links is included in Schedule 1 Forms of this Policy.
