GUIDELINES ON Graduation Ceremonies

 

All students awarded a degree or diploma from Murdoch University are entitled to receive this award at a Graduation Ceremony. Certificate Awards are NOT presented at Graduation Ceremonies.

There is no charge for graduates to attend their Graduation Ceremony.

Honorary Graduates will ordinarily be invited to give the Occasional Address at the ceremony at which their degree is conferred.

The annual schedule of graduation Ceremonies will be presented to the Committee for approval following consultation with the Graduations Working Party – Alumni, Student Services and Corporate and Public Relations – and will be in two parts – the first round of graduations ie: March/April and the second submission being the second round of graduations i.e. September – inclusive of any International Graduations i.e. Singapore.

The Chancellor will advise on any request for changes to the standard Order of Proceedings for all Graduations.

The Graduations Working Party will, from time to time, explore changes to venue, timing, size and location of Graduations after appropriate University Community consultation and forward proposals to the Committee for comment and approval.

Suggestions of suitable speakers for Graduation Ceremonies will be presented to the Committee for comment and approval.
