coursework scholarshipsPREAMBLE PRINCIPLES / OBJECTIVES: 1. Establishment of a scholarship requires the approval of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic). Any submission to establish a scholarship should include details of the scholarship name, funding source, value, selection process, criteria and duration. All coursework scholarships are administered by the Scholarships Office. 2. A scholarship shall have a minimum value of at least $1,000 per recipient per year, unless a lesser amount is approved by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic). 3. A scholarship fund shall be established for a minimum of 3 years unless a lesser period is approved by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic). 4. The recipient of the scholarship shall be selected by the University, though an external donor is entitled to representation on the selection committee if desired. 5. The University reserves the right not to award any scholarship in a year, if no applicant is considered suitable. 6. A scholarship holder shall be enrolled full-time, unless the conditions of that scholarship explicitly permit part-time enrolment. 7. Any scholarship shall be terminated if the academic progress is in breach of the relevant Academic Progress Rules or if the holder is no longer enrolled in the course for which the scholarship was awarded. Each scholarship may also specify a higher level of academic achievement as agreed between the donor and the University. A student whose course and therefore scholarship is terminated due to breach of the University Misconduct Statute or Regulations may be asked to repay the pro-rata value of the scholarship. 8. A scholarship may be deferred or suspended for up to one year, subject to any conditions specified in the conditions for that scholarship. 9. Scholarship recipients shall not be bonded or otherwise committed to the University or to the donor on completion of the Scholarship.
