Murdoch University Organisational Structure

Organisational Structure

The organisational structure of Murdoch University comprises two main types of organisational-unit:

  • MOUs (Murdoch Organisational Units) which exist to satisfy accounting and/or staffing classification requirements; and
  • others, which classify functions and services which are provided by either the University itself, or by associated bodies (such as the Guild of Students).

Cross-Linking of Data in Different Systems

Murdoch's organisational-units have been codified (ie. each has been assigned a unique number) to enable cross-linking of relevant data between application systems.

In other words, data in one application system which has been attributed to an official org-number, can be compared/contrasted with data in another application system which has been attributed to that same org-number.

It is planned that this codified structure be implemented in all strategic application systems of the University.

To date, it has been implemented in the Human Resource Management System [Alesco], the Assets Management System [Finance One Assets module], the Research Management System [RIS2], and the Active Directory / Exchange environment.

To follow will be the Campus Directory / White Pages System, the Financial Management System [Finance One] and the Student Information Management System [Callista].

Organisational Chart

The Organisational Chart is a diagrammatic representation of all Murdoch Organisational Units (MOUs). It shows the official name (org-name) and number (org-number) of each MOU, and its relationship to other organisational-units.

The first page of the chart shows the overall structure of the University. A mouse-click on any of the boxes on this page will take the viewer to a page showing the entire structure of that box.

Keeping the Organisational Chart Up-to-Date

Any proposed change to the official organisational structure of Murdoch University (whether an addition, a deletion, or a renaming of an org-unit) must be approved by the University's Director of IT Services before it can be codified and implemented into the University's application systems.

Please contact the IT Service Desk for queries on maintenance of the Organisational Chart (and its underlying codified database).

To facilitate printing of the Organisational Chart, a copy is available as a PDF.

A log of organisational unit changes is also available.
