If, after considering the examiners' report, the Board is of the opinion that the candidate has made a contribution to knowledge at a level substantially higher than that required for admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and has achieved by virtue of the submitted works, an authoritative standing in the field of knowledge in which those works fall, it shall recommend to the Academic Council that the candidate be admitted to the degree. A candidate not recommended for admission to the degree may not be considered again for admission for a period of three years. |
