Campaign material rules for Student Guild elections
General Rules

All election material shall bear the name and
address of the person under whose authority it is published.

No person shall remove, alter, deface, obstruct
or destroy election material prior to the close of voting, unless authorised
by the Returning Officer.

Defacing, mutilating, removing or interfering
with election material belonging to another person without authority of
that person or candidate for whom the election material was produced shall
constitute misbehaviour in an election.

No election material to be distributed throughout
lecture theatres and tutorial rooms.

All authorised election materials in common areas
must be picked up at the end of each day.

The person who has authorised the material will
be responsible for cleaning costs and or littering if there is material
left in common areas.

No material shall be placed on any notice boards
(except those specitifed), doors, windows, trees, walkways, bus-stops or
other surfaces not prescribed.

No adhesive stickers are to be attached to any
part of any University building, including floors and walkways.

Election material may be placed on pillars, and banners can be hung in
prescribed areas only after 12 noon on the day of close of nominations -
refer note1. Any material that goes up before
this time will be removed at the candidate’s expense and the candidate issued
a warning.

Election material on pillars must only reach to
a maximum height of 2m above ground level. Material must only be
attached with masking tape, gaffa tape or blu-tack. (as this is easily removed).

Banners must be hung at a height that will not
impede access or cause a safety hazard, recommended minimum height 2m.

All election material must be removed by 8.00am
on the first Monday one month after close of nominations otherwise a removal/cleaning
charge will be levied to the person(s) who authorised the material.

Other candidates' election material can not be
removed or overlaid by any other candidates (or people acting on their behalf).

Chalk is not to be used under any circumstances.
Murdoch Campus
-
Banners may only be hung between the pillars (not trees) around Bush Court
and only in the prescribed areas. refer note 2

Posters and banners may be placed on the pillars around Bush Court in
the prescribed area. refer note 2
-
No material may be placed on any bins.

Noticeboards - material may be placed in
the Clubs and Societies noticeboards only. (Between the walkway
entrance to Education and Humanities and the entrance to Health and counselling)
and the Guild Secretariat noticeboard
Rockingham Campus
- Posters and banners can be placed on or between the pillars located within
the courtyard.
- No material may be placed on any bins.
Changes to campaign material Rules
The conditions relating to the display of election material are under constant
review during the election period. If there are any changes to these Rules,
candidates will be notified by email.
The Returning Officer has authorised the University staff (under section 4.4
of the Guild Election Regulations) to remove any election material that is in
breach of the rules listed above.
This document will be reviewed in annually.
Note 1: The close of nominations date will be as indicated
by the Returning Officer, Guild of Student Elections
