When do I have to pay my fees?

Thanks to HECS-HELP, you don't have to pay for your degree until you can afford it.

We charge fees each semester and you only pay for the units you've taken in that semester. If you're an Australian citizen, you can choose from these three payment methods:

  1. Pay upfront each semester and receive a 20% discount on the fees.
  2. Defer all of your semester's fees through HECS HELP.
  3. Pay a portion of your semester's fees upfront and defer a portion through HECS HELP.

Most students choose to defer their fees through HECS HELP. This option is available automatically if you're accepted into a course at Murdoch. It means you won't need to pay your fees until you are earning over $41,594 per year. Once you're earning more than this amount, you'll pay slightly more tax which will go towards paying off your HECS HELP loan.

Important points to know about HECS HELP:

If you're not an Australian citizen but you fit under another category of Commonwealth-supported/domestic undergraduate student, you need to pay your fees up front each semester.
