Students: Sydney Fowler, Danielle Bowman, Kaarina Recklies, Jessica O'Donovan and Peta Lewis Awarded by: The George Alexander Foundation which was established to support the education of talented young people, particularly those from rural and regional areas. Donor: The George Alexander Foundation |
"This scholarship has enabled me to leave my home and come to university to pursue my dreams. It is the best opportunity I could have ever asked for because I am completely self funded.
The George Alexander Foundation Accommodation Rural scholarship takes a great weight off my shoulders and allows me to focus my studies, so that I may one day achieve my dream of becoming an interpreter for the United Nations."

"Since the inception of The George Alexander Foundation Scholarship Program in 2002 much of our focus has been on helping talented young people from regional and remote communities meet their educational goals.
Since 2008 The George Alexander Foundation (GAF) Scholarship Program at Murdoch has been providing students from regional areas with access to outstanding accommodation in the Campus Living Villages.
We recognise that budget is always tight for students and that sometimes it can be difficult to maintain a work/study/life balance. This balance is particularly difficult for students who need to move away from home to achieve their educational goals.
Hopefully the GAF Scholarship provides its Scholars with a little bit of breathing space so they can reach their full potential."

"Coolibah Total Caring made a commitment when the School of Nursing was established by Murdoch University at the Mandurah campus to encourage graduates to remain in the Peel Region and to seek a career in Aged Care nursing. We are delighted to donate prizes for nursing students.
Many student nurses rotate through Coolibah as part of their practical rotations and we are always encouraged by the enjoyable experience they share in caring for our elders. Many students work part time at CTC to help support them while at University.
Coolibah Total Caring prides itself on its commitment to Nursing in the Peel region and appreciates Murdoch University’s dedication to providing higher education and opportunities in Mandurah and the Peel region."
