Susan Moore

This prize commemorates Marian’s contribution to Murdoch University as a great educator and student champion. After a career teaching mathematics on four continents, Marian spent 29 years at Murdoch University in a variety of roles, before her untimely passing in 2014.

She was widely respected as a remarkable mathematics teacher, helping countless students. She received both a Murdoch University award for her teaching and a national award for her contributions to numeracy.

Marian’s colleagues remember her for her quality of character, courage, passion, kindness and integrity.

‘Every day spent with Marian was full and zestful. It was an honour and always a pleasure to share many close working hours and challenges with Marian, and this time together was always intermingled with much laughter and joy.’ Quoted with kind permission of Nolene Wake

This new prize will be awarded for academic achievement in maths by a student who has entered Murdoch University via an enabling program.

The University is seeking donations from Marian’s colleagues and friends to support the prize for the long term. Donations are tax deductible and can be made by bank transfer or by credit card.
