Dr Mandy Burrows

Mandy is a Fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Dermatology and a registered specialist in veterinary dermatology. She is a consultant in veterinary dermatology and has two dermatology practices in Perth, Western Australia that provide secondary and tertiary referral advice for skin, ear and allergy problems in dogs, cats and horses.

She lectures in dermatology at Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital and she teaches undergraduate veterinary students and the dermatology unit of the Masters in Veterinary Medicine at both Murdoch and Massey University, New Zealand. She is currently the Chief Examiner of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and serves on the Advisory Committee for the Registration of Veterinary Specialists. She is a member of the Board of the Journal of Veterinary Dermatology, the Australian Advisory Board for Infectious Diseases in companion animals and is the current Australian and New Zealand representative on the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology as well as the Australian representative on the Publicity committee for WCVD7. She has extensive experience with clinical dermatology in companion animals and she enjoys teaching dermatology to veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr Ming Siak

Ming graduated from Murdoch University Veterinary School in 2006 with honours. He is currently completing a formal Australian College of Veterinary Scientists residency training program with Dr Mandy Burrows in order to become a specialist in Veterinary Dermatology. Under supervision, Dr Siak has been involved in the diagnosis, treatment and management of many dogs, cats and horses seen in the dermatology clinic with skin, allergy and ear problems. Ming completed his Membership examinations of the Australian and New Zealand College in 2011 and more recently has published scientific articles in peer reviewed journals. Ming will submit his credentials at the end of his residency in October 2013 and will sit his Fellowship Examination in Veterinary Dermatology in 2014.

Kristy is the most recent veterinary addition to the dermatology team. Kristy graduated from Murdoch University in 2011 and has spent a year in the general practice at Murdoch University. Kristy is an accomplished veterinarian who has a reputation for a caring and empathetic approach to her patients. She joins us for 12 months as a dermatology intern and she will be providing diagnostic support for the dermatology team and client support for our patients. Kristy is also involved extensively with the clinical teaching of our final year veterinary graduates.

Suzie is a graduate of Bentley TAFE with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She has been working with the Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic since 2006. Suzie provides quality patient care and assists with dermatological procedures including allergy testing, oto-endoscopy, immunotherapy, appointment scheduling and patient follow up. In 2013, Suzie changed to a part-time role in our team so she could commit to full time study at Murdoch University.

Karla is currently the most senior nurse in our full time veterinary nursing team with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing from the United Kingdom. She has been working with the Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic since 2009. Karla is the major liaison between clients and clinicians allowing our clients efficient access to our service. She provides quality patient care and assists with dermatological procedures including allergy testing, oto-endoscopy, immunotherapy, appointment scheduling and patient follow up. She performs the hearing testing (BAER) testing for the Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic.

LJ is the most recent nurse to join our dermatology team. LJ is a 2012 graduate of the Australian Agricultural College and joins us with a history of accomplishment in general practice. LJ provides quality patient care and assists with dermatological procedures including allergy testing, oto-endoscopy and immunotherapy.
