Murdoch Veterinary Hospital: Pet owners

Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre fees

All treatment is given only with your written consent and with consideration of any financial constraints.

Please be aware that full payment is required on discharge and you must maintain a deposit of 50% of the upper estimation throughout your pet’s time in hospital. The maximum outstanding balance permitted is $1,500.

Credit is not available and you will not be given an account.

Estimations and Treatment Options:

Because the condition of critically ill patients changes from hour to hour, usually only the first 12-24 hours of care is estimated initially.

Once your pet has been stabilised and a diagnosis and prognosis is available, you will be given further estimations and the option to proceed with the recommended optimal treatment, conservative treatment, referral back to your local vet or, in unfortunate cases, euthanasia.

If a pet is admitted to the ICU, our nursing staff will update the account regularly and inform you of the account balance each afternoon.

A 20% surcharge applies to some fees during public holidays.

Figures are estimates and intended as a guide only.

During consultation the clinician will give you a more accurate approximation of costs dependant on the illness and condition of your pet once examined.

Variables include patient's response to treatment plus whether further diagnostics/surgery are required.

Pet insurance

If your pet is taken ill or injured, the veterinary bill can run to many thousands of dollars.

Pet Insurance cover is highly recommended.

If you have Pet Insurance for your pet, the insurance companies require you to pay your account in full and send in your completed claim form with receipt to receive your reimbursement.

You may leave your claim form at Murdoch Pet Emergency Centre for our clinicians to fill out and then return to you or your insurance company. You can even post it in to us afterwards, just be sure to remember your policy number.
