Horse owners
Equine medicine and surgery is an integral part of Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital’s veterinary services.
Our patients include valuable racehorses and show jumpers, endurance mounts, pony clubbers, dressage horses, eventers, and show hacks.
Often a horse (or pony) is referred to us because their regular vet wishes to seek a second opinion on a tricky case, or because diagnosis will require specialised equipment only found here. If you would like a referral to our services, ask your regular vet to make a referral via the online referral form, or the faxable referral form which you can bring with you or your vet can email or fax to us. Our staff will work closely in conjunction with the primary care clinician on these valuable teaching cases.
Additionally some clients choose Murdoch as their primary care equine clinic, seeking the support of our highly qualified specialist-level staff, and the staff training under them, for their day to day equine care. This loyal clientele presents our students with an excellent caseload to observe, better preparing them for the routine of day-to-day cases as a vet in private equine practice.
