Small Animal Referral Services - Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic fees

The Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic fees are standard veterinary specialty consulting fees.

  • The consultation fee for the initial one hour appointment is $185.
  • A revisit fee for a 30 minute appointment is $90.

A full cost estimate is given to every owner prior to making any commitment for any investigative testing.

To give you some guidance, the average investigation of an allergic skin disease, which includes skin scraping, cytological evaluation of skin and ears, intradermal allergy testing and the first immunotherapy vaccine in the absence of serological testing is approximately $900 to $1300.

For guidance, an average investigation into a chronic otitis externa and media in a dog which includes a CT scan, general anaesthesia, pre and post BAER testing, culture from external and middle ear, ear flushing of the middle ear and myringotomy is approximately $1500 to $2000.

We suggest that in many instances, pet owners do proceed with diagnostic procedures when we have explained to them why they are important and the potential outcome for their pets.

If the pet owners have concerns about costs, we suggest they make a referral appointment to have their pet assessed and this can be discussed further with the veterinary Skin, Allergy and Ear Clinic staff.
