Equine services

The Equine Centre provides a referral service to you and your clients for both elective and emergency cases. We are staffed with 7 equine veterinarians; 4 of whom have specialist training in either medicine or surgery. If your clients require surgical procedures, specialist trained anaesthetists are available.

Making a referral

You may refer a client at any time - after hours the call will be diverted and the on call veterinarian will call you directly prior to referral.

We understand that some clients have difficulty finding us, particularly after hours - check the map for directions.

Working together to achieve the best outcome for your client

As a referring veterinarian you are very important to us and we aim to provide a high level of service to both you and your clients. We are more than happy to provide advice to you either via the phone or email regarding any case referred or not.

Once a case has been referred we will establish phone contact after the case has been assessed and treatment initiated or the next day if it was an after hours admission. On discharge of the horse a written report will be sent to you and your client.

Our services

We are able to provide a range of services to you and your clients including advanced surgical procedures, advanced medical diagnostics and treatment, critical care and a world class isolation facility for infectious diseases.

All referral cases are managed by a senior veterinarian with specialist training and they are assisted by a resident. Undergraduate veterinary students are likely to be involved in the care of your client's horse, under strict supervision by one or more experienced veterinarians.

All clients receive a high level of communication both verbal and written and are kept appraised of costs throughout their visit.
